The match got underway with the Legends putting their stamp on the game with a great shot from former Celtic hero Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. Manorview equalized with a bullet from Captain Kenny Barclay. The Legends pulled one back to make it 2-1, as our own Chris Hyland from the Redhurst Hotel (who found himself in the Legends team), passed a neat ball through to Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, who slotted the ball into the back of the net.
The Legends continued to pile on the pressure with ex-Dundee Utd star, Andy McLaren hitting a great right foot strike into the bottom corner to make it 3-1. Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Miller made it a half-time score of 4-1.
While Manorview were hearing some inspirational half-time chat from their Manager and Captain, the crowds were entertained by a troop of dancers from A&M Scotland, who performed a set of back flips to make Man Utd’s Luis Nani jealous.
The half-time team talk took effect as Manorview pulled one back through Carlton Graham who rounded the keeper and tapped the ball into the back of the net to make it 4-2. A great strike came from Steve Buckley to make the final score 4-3, to the Legends.
Manorview fought bravely but they weren’t strong enough to beat a Legends team with talent, silky skills and years of professional experience behind them.
It was up to A&M Charity co-founder Andy McLaren to lift the Manorview Trophy and to hand out the medals.
