SAMH Training Day at The Torrance Hotel

Team Torrance showing their commitment to such an amazing charity

After a year of fundraising, the team at The Torrance Hotel in East Kilbride has donated £2,500 to charity, SAMH, (Scottish Association for Mental Health).

The team have spent a year fundraising by holding various collections and doing challenges such as the “eyes bigger than your belly munch off” where participants had 90 minutes to eat as much food as possible.

As part of the team’s commitment to showing support for mental health and well-being, they also arranged for SAMH to deliver a training session at The Torrance Hotel to all the Manorview Group Management Team who are located throughout all our venues, and at Head Office.

The SAMH training day at The Torrance Hotel consisted of a health and well-being presentation from SAMH followed by a talk on suicide prevention called safeTALK which is supported by the NHS.

The Torrance Hotel also presented SAMH with a charity cheque which amounted to £2,500, and the venue’s charity initiative will continue this year, with many more fundraising opportunities being organised.

Kathleen Swallow, General Manager, The Torrance Hotel, said: “Mental health and well-being affects us all and as a manager of a diverse and busy team, I am aware of the roles we can all play to look out for, and look after our colleagues. I’m delighted that all our Manorview managers took part in the expert training day we received from SAMH – this type of work and training is crucial, and there’s much we can all do to raise awareness.”

Kris Kelly, Corporate Partnership Executive, SAMH, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to The Torrance Hotel who have raised an amazing amount for SAMH. The whole team really embraced the fundraising challenge and we’ve loved working with them. The Manorview Group’s mental health strategy and approach to mental health training show how committed they are to the wellbeing of their employees and customers. The money raised will go towards helping us to support people when they need us most.”

Liam Yule, Suicide Prevention Development Manager, SAMH, said: “SAMH were delighted to have the opportunity to deliver our Mental Health Awareness course to senior management within the Manorview Group. It is pleasing to see such focus and emphasis placed on staff well-being and mental health and we applaud Manorview for the consideration and thought put into developing a mentally healthy workplace.”
