Dear Friends … we’re sharing Our Love Story

Our Love Story

Love gives us all hope, and in uncertain times, it’s even more precious. Love keeps our world turning and is a lifeline. During this time when we’ve ceased trading, we’ve been surrounded by love.

We see people in love, falling in love, getting married and looking forwards.
Love gives us all hope for the future.

Love is … for sharing. Here’s Our Love Story.

Love is … Teamwork

Taking the decision to cease trading wasn’t taken lightly. We knew it was the right thing to do but it left us a devastating consequence of having to contact all our wedding couples affected by our decision, a situation we never envisaged.

Three months later, we’ve successfully rescheduled almost 300 weddings.

We could not have done this without our team. Our Sales Team and Wedding Coordinators worked round the clock. They contacted everyone and gave reassurance during an extremely worrying and distressing time.

Love is … Understanding

We know how much this day means and we don’t underestimate how upsetting this situation is for our couples and their families. Their patience, understanding and cooperation has been so greatly appreciated. We have all worked through this together.

To show our thanks – we surprised them!

Our team loaded up the Manorview van with bottles of champagne. These have been personally delivered to 197 wedding couples so far (socially distanced!). There are still more deliveries to be made. Our couples also received a card with a personal message from our Chairman Steve Graham.

Love is … A Purpose

Our purpose is to be there for our customers and to serve them. We are still here, operating differently and adapting. It’s unchartered territory and feedback is important to let us know how we’re performing and how we can learn from this experience. We’ve been hearted by the many words of support, appreciation and thanks. This means so much.

We’re sharing some of your kind words – thank you.

“I just wanted to say thank you so much for the champagne – what an amazing surprise when it arrived at the door! We can’t wait to get married at Cornhill Castle and I want to thank you personally for your help in rescheduling our big day. You bent over backwards for us and we really appreciate it! Thank you so much again!”

“I’d just like to say thank you very much for making this whole process straightforward and for checking in on us. It definitely has minimised the stress of postponing our wedding and has allowed us to look forward to continuing our wedding plans as soon as this is all over.”

Love is … The Future

Amidst the chaos – love thrives. People are in love, looking positively to their futures and are committed to their partners. Since lockdown started, we’ve booked 35 weddings across the Group, with an additional 36 provisional dates awaiting confirmation. We’re also committed to our customers. To ensure we’re always here, we’ve adapted and made use of technology. We’ve used online chats, videos and our virtual reality venue walkthroughs. We also want to highlight our amazing team. During this time, they’ve adapted, remained positive and have gone above and beyond.

Love is … a Tale as Old as Time

Here’s a wee shout out to our Torrance Hotel for celebrating weddings throughout the years. Our team member Sarah, from the Busby Hotel, shared this receipt from The Torrance for her aunt’s wedding on in 1975! And all for the cost of £185.91!

Love is … Resilient

Many couples have sadly seen their proposed wedding day come and go, but true love is resilient. Couples have honoured what would have been their big day in all kinds of creative ways.

Suzanne and her family marked their ‘wedding day’ at the Busby Hotel by walking to the venue – they live nearby. They had a little ‘practice ceremony’ with their children. She braved the colder weather and wore a lovely white summer maxi dress.

Great positivity and t-shirts came from future Cornhill Castle bride Lauren, who said: “Well yesterday should have been our wedding day. We managed to make the most of it anyway. Hope everyone else is doing well. Just wanted to say we have really appreciated how helpful the Cornhill staff have been at this time. Thinking of all the other postponed weddings and sending good vibes!

And a great video from Head Teacher Michelle. She recreated the Lynnhurst Hotel in her living room and surprised her partner, Tracy, when she returned from her work as a nurse.

Love is … Patient

We’re sending love to team members Kathleen and Eddie. The couple should have been celebrating their own wedding on April 12th. Instead Bowfield General Manager Eddie was at his venue helping the NHS and frontline workers who were staying with us, while Area Manager Kathleen was supporting socially distanced from their home. When they eventually get married, we know they’ll have a big celebration!

Love is … Kindness

Our team look out for each in many ways. To cheer up Eddie and Kathleen, our team member Lara, sent them a little gift of positivity.
